Special Education Services PRSD 143½ is a member of the Eisenhower Special Education Cooperative. A complete continuum of special education programs and support services are provided for children with the following exceptional characteristics: 1. Auditory, visual, physical, or health impairment 2. Speech or language impairment 3. Deficits in the essential learning process 4. Deficits in intellectual development and mental capacity 5. Educational maladjustment related to social or cultural circumstances 6. Affective disorders or adaptive behavior, which restricts effective functioning. These special education instructional programs and supportive services, including diagnostic services, range along a continuum, based on the nature and degree of the intervention necessary, and are available to exceptional children from the ages of 3 to 15 enrolled in the School District. Students with disabilities who do not qualify for an IEP may qualify for services under Section 504 of the federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 if the child (i)has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, (ii)has a record of a physical or mental impairment, or (iii)is regarded as having a physical or mental impairment. A copy of the “Explanation of Procedural Safeguards Available to Parents of Students with Disabilities” may be obtained from the school district office.
